    63 million Americans, nearly 1 in 4 adults, are family caregivers, 20 million more than in 2015. More than half manage medical and nursing tasks, and just over 20% have had formal training. AARP and the National Alliance for Caregiving, July 2025
    The gap
    Care coordination is sold to employers as a benefit, comes with paid carers, or, like Hera ($27M Series A, June 2026), is run by nurse coordinators for Medicare patients. The free apps families use to share the work are basic.
